iRobot Roomba 694
The iRobot Roomba is an entry level robot vacuum that is effective on both bare flooring and low-pile floor carpet. It also does a good job of removing pet hair however it isn't immune to tangling like top Roomba models, such as the j7 or I6.
The Roomba 694 is easy to use. It has a trio of buttons on its top cover: 'Clean' launches an entire cleaning cycle and 'Dock' places it back into its charging station and 'Spot Clean' triggers a targeted clean. You can control it using a smartphone application that allows you to schedule cycles, stop/start the cycle and change settings. You can also connect the device to smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant to control it through voice.
This vacuum is a bit slower than other models, but it's still able reach most corners and crevices. It has a large bin which makes it much easier to empty. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers, which allows you to set the robot to avoid certain areas or stop cleaning altogether to prevent it from becoming stuck.
Although it's not the top model for its price however, it's superior to many other alternatives. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning capability than the Roomba 694, and it's able to clean low-pile and bare carpets. It also has a more durable battery and a more efficient route. It also feels more durable, has fewer parts that need regular maintenance, costs less to maintain over its life and charges more quickly than the 694.
It's also worth considering other models that are more expensive in the iRobot range, such as the 981 or the v7. The 981 and v7 are both more expensive, but have significant improvement in cleaning efficiency, both on low and bare pile floors. They also have a bigger dirt compartment, charge faster, move more easily, and are more a breeze to pair with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robot vacuum cleaner does an excellent job on carpets with a low pile and hard flooring. Its combination brush reaches the edges and corners, and it automatically increases suction as soon as it detects carpet. It also excels at cleaning dirt and debris that are embedded in the middle of the pile carpet. The IQ's small footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are both nice features. If you want to change the floor levels or set no-go areas, you'll need to manually reset the map.
The IQ's application has advanced mapping and automation features however, it's not able to access no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. Its smart-pathing navigational system results in greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet mode is clean well, but it tends to get caught up on rug tassels. Additionally, its iHome speaker allows you to operate the robot by voice commands.
In our tests, we found that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to remove the majority of hair on floors that were unfinished, and a fair amount of rug with a medium pile. It was less effective on shag carpets, as it was unable to reach dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able navigate chair legs, small spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a bit slower on bare flooring however, it was able to recover speed and was more efficient than the other robots we test.
The IQ is a better option than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a larger dustbin, a longer battery life, and is better at navigating around obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that are able to remove sticky debris. The iRobot on the other hand feels more sturdy and has fewer parts that need maintenance or replacement, incurs less recurring costs, can create virtual no-go zones using its companion application. It can even resume the cleaning process from the point it started if it has run out of battery before having completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice commands, which is a huge plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum available, but it does offer powerful cleaning capabilities at the price of. It's designed for budget-conscious buyers who don't require a complicated mapping system or an app to control the device. This robot can run for up to an hour and includes the remote, a cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.
The 11S is slim, sleek, and features a tempered-glass upper deck that looks like polished aluminum. It's a nice departure from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more utilitarian and industrial.
The eufy11S did well in our tests at removing larger debris and fine dust from flooring. However, it was unable to give high and medium pile carpets a thorough clean. The device also has a tendency to bump into furniture and people that are in its path however, it is able to detect obstacles with sensors. It ceases and emits a loud ring when it encounters an obstacle. It is then possible to manually steer the device around the obstacle and get it to work again.
Another excellent feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the type of floor and the amount of dirt. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S in the direction you want it to go.
Single Room Mode is a great alternative if you have a small amount of furniture in the room you want to vacuum. The eufy will spend 30 minutes intensely cleaning the space it is assigned to.
Edge Cleaning is another option that reduces the time spent on each surface to just 20 minutes. This will extend battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling manner, cleaning corners and edges.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a great mid-range best robot floor cleaner vacuum cleaner that performs well on carpet. Its performance on bare floors is also outstanding. It can remove small particles such as rice effortlessly and doesn't lose suction power even when its dirt bin gets full. Its air-sealed, allergy-friendly design snuff out allergens to keep your family safe. It has an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying bin, so you don't have to buy additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.
It's not as effective as more expensive models, but is still excellent for deep cleaning and taking on the toughest stains. It has two front cameras that deliver live feeds to your smartphone. It also has one of the most advanced obstacle avoidance systems. It has a huge bin, an extended runtime and an easy, bump-free clean-up.
